Anne Wangutusi Is the New African Queen (Miss Africa UK)

African Women of Substance is proud to present  the new African Queen in the UK. Miss Anne Wangutusi, from Kenya, was crowned Miss Africa UK 2013 at the Iqbal Banqueting

Suite, Birmingham, on Saturday, 29th June 2013. The competition was very tough, but unfortunately only one Queen is needed at a time.

Anne made a short statement after her victory to express how she flet ‘This is something I feel very grateful for and I will do my best to represent Africa in every way possible." As the reigning Miss Africa UK, she hopes to be a great role model and uplift the African community in all she does. Anne has made it a goal to contribute to all charitable causes that empower the African community.

She is an accountant by profession and describes herself as a people’s person who thrives socially, academically and career wise. She is a role model for not only the youth, but the community at large. Anne loves dancing, travelling, meeting new people and social networking. Her ambition is to be involved in current affairs and recommend solutions where needs be. Her favourite food is mantoke from native Kenya and she loves dancing to afro beats. Anne thinks that the African woman should be empowered to speak out

more and stand up for themselves. Her description of Africa is simply 'beautiful'. She would like to encourage Africans to believe in themselves with a view of aiming to reach the reachable limit....the sky!
The pageant this year was judged by some of the most respectable leaders and role models in the community and we are grateful for their time and commitment and for giving us a new Queen. They all agreed it was a very tough decision to make.
